Vonda's Vlog

Eclectic; like life.

Honest about life's surprises and inspired by contemplative practices, Vonda's Vlog explores the heart of what makes people and their projects tick, tremor, and trend.

How May I Assist

Apr 25, 2020

I'm settling very well into my six-month trek (Zigzag) to Capitol Hill. And, I finally feel like I can offer time to others again. What do you need? How can I assist?

You Count

Apr 23, 2020

I'm excited to help launch a campaign that helps count the lives preventing harm in medical care and acknowledges the lives harmed. It's launching soon.

In the meantime, my walks are tracked with CharityMiles. You can sponsor or start your own campaign to help make our medical centers safe for everyone involved.

Arrived in Sacramento with Food Poisoning

Apr 18, 2020

Five hours into the first leg of my zigzag to Capitol Hill a gut-wrenching vegan pizza stopped me in my tracks. Thankfully, this resilient body has now recovered and I'm ready to update the zigzag map and post soon.

One Last Stop Before Sacramento

The small, nimble Patient Safety Movement Foundation (PSMF) team works tirelessly to promote safety for every person influencing and influenced by health care. In honor of World Patient Safety Day, PSMF and dozens of volunteers are producing a March For Patient Safety. I'm taking this mission on the road with me as I head for Capitol Hill, asking legislators to prioritize a #plan4zero.

From wherever you are on September 17th, you can show up to support health care workers, patients, and their families to provide and receive safe care. Get updates by adding your name here

Eight years ago today, 4/16/12, the cascade of events leading to my zigzag from SoCal to Capitol Hill began.

ZigZag to Capitol Hill Begins Now

Apr 16, 2020

Five years ago several amazing people from the Patient Safety Movement Foundation came to my residence and produced a beautiful film about Yogiraj's death from hospital-associated venous thromboembolism (blood clot in the lungs.) One of the shots in the film peeks into the sun's glimmer at dawn. See if you can find it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLbncqbBYg0

Today, I depart sunny Temecula for Sacramento. I'll miss this place and especially my dear friends who I love dearly.

What Is The Same And What Is Different?

Whenever I transition I ask:

What is the same and what is different?

Box One Packed _Yogiraj's Books with Personal Writing

Apr 08, 2020

The journey begins. The first box is packed. Everything is going into storage for several months while I 'very COVID-19 cautiously' travel from SoCal to DC, bringing attention to the extremely important matter of safety for everyone influencing and influenced by health care.

I've not been feeling very well for several days. But I'm told it is important to get some motion. So, packing a couple of boxes is my exertion for the day.

Want to peek inside Yogiraj's library? About a quarter of his books are cataloged in an app called Library Thing. It's free for all.
